You are all one in union with Christ Jesus
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 2, 2012 at 9:54pm When you give offering or tithes every pastor will happily get it and put it in their pocket. Has any pastor or any ministry ever said that our ministry is NOT a fertile land and if you sow in our ministries you will NOT get 30 fold, 60 fold or 100 fold.
Here is an interesting thought. Has any pastor, ever in the history of the world, returned the money back to the person, because the pastor spent the money mis-appropriately.
:-).. no one will return the money la.. But my question here is that is the tithes are applicable in this new age? who have given tithes in new testament and to whom??
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 5, 2012 at 12:05am I cannot remember reading anything about tithes in the new testament. If you have tell me, if not let us only discuss about offerings.
Ok, I will say this, an offering is something you give to God. Would you agree.
Yes.. the word tithes is not mentioned in the new testament, Jesus only told about tithes when He was speaking about pharises..!
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
Then why our churches are still following the concept of tithes? It seems like a permanent fixed salary to pastors? and there is a statement that we should give tithes to the church we are going every sunday and offerings can be given to any one who does ministries in africa and bihar..!
On what logic this rule was framed in this generation?
yeah we give whatever it is, we should feel that it is going to God only. not to some people..! as in the below verses says..!
Matthew 25: 35 For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 5, 2012 at 2:05am It is easy to understand why churches are still following tithes. Imagine a church with 500 families and give 1000 bucks a months. It is 500000 a month, Do you think any pastor will preach against it.
I absolutely agree with giving to the poor,
1. It is easy to find them
2. You know exactly to whom you are giving
3. You know exactly how it will benefit them
We don't have to give it to some one, who says he is giving it to the poor. Remember it is our hard earned money and it is our responsibility to see how it is given to God.
yes.. in the same time.. When Jesus appeared to His disciples after His resurrection at the sea shore, when they are fishing in the sea, He was waiting at the sea shore with fried fishes.. He called hem to bring some fishes to get this fried, ready fishes.. He didnt ask His disciples to bring tenth part of the fishes they caught.. Giving is also in our hands.. How much ever we give we will get that much as per the verse says
24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.
So, we can give how much ever we wish, the same measure will be measured to us.. in the book of acts they sold their possession and gave.. They are really blessed..
Again the below verses says that we have to give something to our true preachers.. we should not leave them who are nourishing our spiritual life on the earth.
1 Timothy 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 5, 2012 at 3:14am If you give and expect that we will get that much, then it is not really giving is it.
Why should we give for the sake of getting more. I give just for the sake of giving and I don't ever expect anything back.
You see the preachers lure the people saying if you give me, then God will give you more in 30 fold, 100 fold etc.
That is like buying lottery ticket and NOT like helping the poor and the needy. I get my reward for giving in the satisfaction that I have helped someone who was in desparate need. I am happy with that satisfaction, that is enough for me.
yeah.. we should not expect returns for our investment to God.. we are saving our treasures in heaven.. And when we give it should be secret like our left hand should not know how much we are giving through right hand.. one funny practice is putting the tithes in a cover and writing their name and address on the cover...! whats the use of it? As bible says, they will get their returns..!
And don't say no to the needy who is asking for credit.. and forgot that you have given...! :-) tough verse ryt..!
Permalink Reply by Jessica on February 5, 2012 at 4:10am The reason for writing the name and address on the cover, is to make sure that the pastor knows that they are giving tiithes.
To get favour in the eyes of the man(the pastor).
Yes those are very tough verses, had for most people to follow.
Remember the verse where Jesus says If you want to follow, then sell everything that belongs to you and give it to the poor (note not the pastor) and follow me. How many christians follow that.
